Cops told to intensify visibility
CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan — Instead of sitting inside police stations and headquarters, a top Philippine National Police (PNP) official directed his policemen to get out of their offices and post themselves along the streets to enable them to respond in case the public need their services.
Sr. Supt. Arnold D. Gunnacao, newly designated Bataan police director, said he immediately directed his policemen to go out of the precincts and municipal stations, and post themselves along the busy intersections, colleges, markets, and other areas where large crowd stayed most of the time, enabling them to easily respond when there are emergencies or untoward incidents that may occur in the area.
“Kung nasa labas sila ng station, madaling maka-responde itong mga pulis kapag may nangyaring hindi maganda at hindi na kailangan pang tumakbo sa PNP station ang mga tao upang humingi ng saklolo o serbisyo ng pulis,” pointed out Gunnacao.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy class 1985, Gunnacao said that aside from immediately providing assistance to the public, mere police’s presence in the area can thwart possible criminal activities.
Right after assuming the directorship of the Bataan PNP, Gunnacao and his men had already captured a number of lawless elements, robbers, holdup men, drug pushers, and others due to the immediate reactions of the policemen in the area.
