Prices and supply of cement have stabilized already as cement plants are now back 100 percent to full operation.

Trade and Industry Undersecretary Zenaida C. Maglaya said that although there are still complaints by some retailers of having no supply, cement firms are already 100 percent back to normal operations after having undertaking plant shutdowns in December last year for annual plant maintenance.

“Price and supply of cement are stable,” declared Maglaya.
Prevailing cement prices are hovering between P205 to P210 after prices went up to as high as P260 per 40-kilogram bag.

Maglaya also reported that cement firms have already submitted the list of their accredited outlets as required by the DTI for price monitoring purposes.

Cemex Cement has also decided not to raise prices based on its letter last month.

Maglaya further said that despite the extension of the zero-duty import privilege for cement, importers are unlikely to bite it because the landed cost is at P190 per bag while the ex-plant price is between P180 to P190 per bag.
