2 cops commended for bravery
The Northern Police District (NPD) will commend Thursday two policemen, including a rookie, for causing the surrender of seven suspected fully armed holdup men without firing a shot in Valenzuela City.
Records showed that PO3 Nicolas Villano and PO1 Jeremy Bagtasos were manning their post at Police Community Precinct 1 near the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) exit when they received a radio message that a plastic factory has just been robbed.
The suspects, believed to be remnants of the "Alvin Flores Gang" were on a Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle heading to Manila after robbing the Asian Star Plastic Scrap located at Parada Road in Barangay Parada when the two policemen spotted them.
Ignoring the fact that they were outnumbered and outgunned, armed only with a shotgun and a 9 mm pistol, the two policemen ordered the vehicle to stop.
The seven suspects did not resist and came out of the vehicle to surrender.
Senior Supt. Ranier Idio, Valenzuela City police chief, said he recommended the promotion of the two policemen to the next higher rank.
The city police chief also said that the two policemen will also report to Camp Crame to give their testimonies on the incident
