DoTC allots P3.6 million for vital LTO projects in Zambo Peninsula
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Region 9 office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO 9) has infused some P3.6 million for the construction of several structures in at least four LTO district offices in the Zamboanga Peninsula aimed at giving the people of the region the best public service possible.
LTO 9 Regional Director Aminola Abaton said that the P3.6 million fund for the projects was allotted by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) central office.
Abaton said the LTO Zamboanga District office got the biggest share of P1.3 million for the construction of a “public assistance center and complaints desk” inside the LTO compound here.
The center which is expected to be functional by the end of the month, will cater to the needs and complaints of clients visiting the center to renew their licenses, registration of motor vehicles, and for other purposes, Abaton said.
Adding that the center will be air-conditioned, where LTO employees will screen LTO clients for them to get an easy access for all their transactions at the center.
“We will assign employees at the center to assist clients on their needs and would eventually make their visit to this office easy and free from any intervention of fixers,” Abaton said.
In Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, he said the LTO district office there is presently constructing a seminar and examination center worth P800,000.
The center will be used in conducting seminars and training for motor vehicle drivers before issuing to them a license to operate a motor vehicle.
In Pagadian City, the LTO district office there will undertake the rehabilitation and repainting of the perimeter fence costing some P600,000 while the Dipolog City LTO district office got P900,000 for a similar project and concreting of pavement.
To ensure that the amounts given to them would get the best result, Abaton said all the four projects in the four LTO district offices in the region are being undertaken by the administration.
Meanwhile, LTO-9 has recorded an increased in their collection last year by about 16 percent as compared to P203 million in 2008 and P235 million in 2009.
