Ivler stays in NBI custody
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (QCRTC) has allowed Jason Ivler, the suspect in the killing of the son of a Malacañang official, to remain under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Ivler is still confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center for treatment of the bullet wounds he suffered when he figured in a shootout with NBI operatives.
Attending physicians have yet to give their go-signal to transfer Ivler to the NBI jail on Taft Avenue, Manila.
Speculations recently circulated that Ivler might actually be detained at the QC Jail because of its proximity to the QCRTC.
Aside from the order for Ivler to remain under the bureau's custody, the court also scheduled his arraignment on Feb. 18, 2010.
Ivler has already undergone two operations following his admission to the QMMC last Jan. 18.
The NBI already has a high profile detainee in Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., the principal suspect in the Maguindanao massacre.
Once Ivler recuperates from his injury, he will immediately be transferred to the NBI jail.
