8 more Pinoys back from Haiti
The fourth batch of Filipino survivors from the Haiti killer quake arrived home Thursday morning.
The eight Filipinos who were repatriated back to the country were Celerino Trinidad, Magielyn Trinidad, Odelon Trinidad, Myla Trinidad, Jeffrey Estabillo, Joel Bacurin, Rizza Bagadiong, and Dominador Bagadion.
The fourth batch was onboard Philippine Airlines flight PR103 from Los Angeles, California which arrived at 7 a.m.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Director Vivian Tornea and lawyer Enrico Foz of the Department of Foreign Affairs were at the airport to personally welcome the survivors.
A medical team from the Philippine National Red Cross was also on hand to provide medical attention to the earthquake victims.
Dominador Bagadion, a casino dealer in Port-au-Prince, said he was very happy to be home.
"Masaya ako at nakauwi na kami!" exclaimed Bagadion, who was forced to wait for almost a week before he was able to go home.
Bagadion and most of the Filipino evacuees had to stay in the Dominican Republic while waiting for their US transit visas.
"Medyo natagalan lang ang pag proseso nung visa namin pero laking pasalamat namin at nakauwi na kami," Bagadion said. "Maraming salamat sa gobyerno natin at tinulungan kaming makauwi.”
According to Foz, the final batch of evacuees will arrive this Friday aboard another PAL flight from Los Angeles. He said 70 Filipinos applied for repatriation in Haiti but seven backed out.
