Probably one of the “pinaka” funny moments in Rovilson Fernandez’s life was when he laughed at the dancing talents of Marc Nelson and KC Montero whenever he would see them on “Keep on Dancing” via satellite TV in the States years ago.

Why? Because Rovilson now is good friends with the two TV hosts and has somehow done the “same things” he mocked them about. As Rovilson admitted sheepishly during the press conference of his QTV 11 show entitled “Ang Pinaka” it was karma!

Another “pinaka” in his life was in terms of the unexpected – his career’s rise as a TV host.

“That is what’s great with my first 10 years in the business. All these that I’ve been doing now is a dream come true. I never would have thought that I would be a host on TV. All my life I’ve been practicing to be behind the camera and to be in production,” shared Rovilson.

Since he broke into hosting TV shows like “Ang Pinaka” he described it not to be a tedious job but more of a fun and continuous learning experience.

“I’m enjoying this ride and I’m trying to go as long as I can with it, stretching my 15 minutes of fame so to speak. I’m really enjoying the hosting aspect of it. And I think I’m doing pretty well,” he added.

One of the proofs to his hosting prowess is “Ang Pinaka,” which is one of Q Channel 11’ s most successful and longest-running programs. It is also the show that kicks off the Sunday Public Affairs primetime block of the channel which includes “Reunions,” “True Stories” and “Misteryo.”

“Ang Pinaka’s” attraction is its content wherein it lists the Top 10 of “everything and anything under the sun” whether it is the hottest, worst, the best or the baddest or coolest and more. There are also guest “panelistas” who join Rovilson every Sunday.

“I’ve done a lot of shows and this is completely different from all of them. I would say that every single episode I learn something new. It is a great learning experience and it is a challenge with the direction we are going which is all Tagalog. And it’s been interesting,” smiled Rovilson.

Always loving the challenges that “Ang Pinaka” brings him, he is giving much effort in learning the vernacular. His speaking Tagalog would help the cause of “Ang Pinaka” in broadening their viewership. Another step they’re taking is going out to the people and asking them their “own pinakas.”

“I love talking to people and we like to be more interactive with our audience. We like to go out there and see the people,” he expressed.

More than just the host, Rovilson also attributed the success of “Ang Pinaka” to the production, the researchers of the show and the “panelistas.” He is also proud that in the four years “Ang Pinaka’s” existence, the show has consistently won the “Anak TV Seal.”

So does he also contribute his ideas in “Ang Pinaka?”

“No because mine are too ‘bastos’ to air,” laughed Rovilson. “The ‘panelistas’ are fantastic. They’re the ones who make the show with their expertise and wit. It’s really the driving force of the show and the researchers are great!”

Though his successful hosting career resulted in a new car and a house, Rovilson Fernandez’s goal is to also explore an international hosting career. He and Marc Nelson became celebrities in the Asian region after being in the second season of “The Amazing Race Asia.” He also hopes to venture someday in directing.
