NBI seizes P16-million fake products
Some P16 million worth of fake Crocs products were seized by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during successive raids on several establishments in Manila, San Juan and Mandaluyong recently as as part of the bureau’s intensified campaign against fake products.
Dante Bonoan, chief of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD), said the raids were conducted following a complaint filed by Atty. Raymond Roland Rojas of Reyes Cabrera Rojas & Associates, who represented Crocs Inc.
The NBI agents raided Jet Footwear and a warehouse located on Juan Luna St. in Binondo Manila, reportedly owned by Felimon Chong and/or Cita Evardone. Armed with search warrants issued by Manila regional trial court Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr., the bureau operatives also swooped down on Tokyo Hanna General Merchandise and several stalls located at the Greenhills Shopping Center in Greenhills, San Juan; and stalls at the St. Francis Square Mall in Mandaluyong City.
The NBI seized a total of 6,369 pieces of assorted shoes, slippers and other products with Crocs trademark, worth P15,922,500.
The owners of the raided establishments now face charges of trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, the NBI said.
