President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is Keynote Speaker at the two-day 10th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition which opens Monday, commemorating a decade-long endeavor of highlighting the Philippines on the outsourcing map as a preferred haven for global brands keen on remaining competitive amidst an industry in constant flux.

President Arroyo will address an audience composed of C-level executives; global thought leaders and centers of excellence; government representatives; best-of-bread brands and organizations; foreign trade delegations from countries such as the US, China, Japan, UK, Switzerland, and Germany; as well as local champions in the ICT/BPO sector.

The 10th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition is led by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an attached agency of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

For 2010, a total of 106 exhibitors and an expected number of close to 1,500 trade buyers and visitors will converge at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City for this two-day annual IT business event composed of an exhibit and an international conference. Over the years, e-Services has gathered under one venue the likes of IBM Global Services, the European Software Institute, Sutherland Global Services, and Accenture, to name a few.

“Since the inception of e-Services ten years ago, the ICT and business process outsourcing or BPO landscaped of the Philippines has changed radically. Today, ICT and BPO have graduated from solutions and voice-based products and services to include more complex knowledge-based businesses,” said Trade Secretary Peter B. Favila. “As e-Services turns ten, we thank the private sector for sharing our vision over these many years in our continued efforts to champion Philippine IT business. We also thank our strategic partners for their commitment and contribution in building the Philippine ICT brand.”

Among the global brands and international organizations speaking at the show are Rubin Worldwide, JP Morgan Chase, and Netsuite, among others.

With the BPO sector currently worth US$6 billion, leading analyst group Everest Research has put the Philippines on the 3rd spot in the total global BPO market breakdown in terms of estimated revenues for 2008. The country was also named by the UK’s National Outsourcing Association as the Best Offshoring Destination of the Year for 2007 and most recently in 2009. Such accolades serve to prop the industry towards attaining its target 10% global market share for 2010.

In line with these efforts, e-Services 2010 presents ten new additions for its milestone year, as well as three co-located events: DEVCON Luzon, an informal gathering of web developers and software professionals spearheaded by the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA); the Startups Take A Pitch elevator competition sponsored by Plug and Play Tech Center and open to Filipino tech startups in a bid to grow under Silicon Valley tutelage; and finally, the Procurement and Supply Management Track co-sponsored by the Procurement and Sourcing Institute of Asia (PASIA) to discuss the promise of procurement BPO.

“BPO is well supported by the Philippine government and we feel very welcome being here and investing. There is a lot of potential… for our company in the Philippines,” said Magnus Ask, VP of the Human Resources Global Operations for LM Ericsson-AB in Sweden.
