The evolution of Jolina Magdangal

Jolina Magdangal, dressed in a Lady Gaga-ish look, revealed on “Showbiz Central” that she is making “daring” moves this 2010.

“Ngayon 2010, maraming exciting na mangyayari kay Jolina na makikita nila sa TV. Marami pa ‘kong gustong gawin na iba sa mga nagawa ko na,” said the icon, who’s ready to take on more mature roles.

Coupled with this change is a new manager in the person of Perry Lansigan.

The multi-hyphenate star (singer-fashion icon-actress-entrepreneur) clarified that a misunderstanding with her father Jun triggered such change. Jun Magdangal has been managing his daughter ever since she began with her career in “Ang TV.”

“’Yung pagpapalit ng manager, mutual decision ng buong family. Kasi may bubuksan kaming restaurant sa Tagaytay na hindi basta-basta. Kailangan siyang tutukan. Naisip ni Daddy na kailangan niyang tutukan ‘yun and siyempre hindi mo naman magagawa nang sabay eh. So naisip namin na this is it,” she related.

Jolina said she’s long been friends with her new manager and trusts that their plans and ideas gel with each other.

Albeit the decision did not come without pain, Daddy Jun said in a separate interview that, “It’s the best decision we’ve made.”

The Kapuso star admitted she will miss her Dad as her manager, but will take his wisdom to further her career under new management.

One of Jolina’s surprises for the year is her very own magazine, “Jolie,” where she herself is the editor-in-chief. She said the quarterly publication would feature everything that the present generation can relate to.

Aljur, Kris, and Daniel: A love triangle from ‘reel’ to ‘real’

Newbie actor Daniel Matsunaga did not deny his admiration and growing closeness with his “The Last Prince” co-star, Kris Bernal.

“Kris she really helped me a lot. She’s a very nice girl, helping me with all these lines, [and] acting also. We do the same stuff and we go to the same tent. Very sweet, very cute girl, very nice person. Yes she helped me a lot so I really have to say thanks to her,” he told “Showbiz Central.”

And because of Kris’ growing closeness with her real-life crush, her onscreen partner, Aljur Abrenica, seems to be left out of the picture.

“Honestly, 60-40 na siya (ratio of percent of attention Kris is giving them). Siyempre ako ‘yung 40 [percent]. Mas marami siyang time kay Daniel. ‘Pag magkasama sila nahihiya akong lumapit.”

And why is that?

“Makikita mo naman sa isang babae ‘pag masaya siyang kausap ‘yung tao,” a jealous Aljur related.

Although the Brapanese model-turned-actor finds Kris “hard to win,” he said he is open to asking her out in the future.

Richard Gutierrez hailed as art spokesperson

Kapuso actor Richard Gutierrez was declared by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Department of Education (DepEd) as the spokesperson of the Philippine International Art Festival in celebration of February as the month for the arts.

Richard is also in talks to be the next “Survivor Philippines” host.
