NBI awaits doctors’ advice on Ivler
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Nestor M. Mantaring said Monday the bureau is now waiting for the advice of the doctors regarding the transfer of Jason Ivler to the Quezon City Jail.
Mantaring said once Ivler is turned over to the Quezon City jail, the bureau will no longer have any role in securing him. Ivler was tagged in the shooting to death of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., son of a Malacañang official, during a road rage incident last Nov. 18.
“Once we turn him over to QC jail, the NBI has no more role in securing him. The only thing the NBI will do is for its officials to testify in court in the event they will be summoned by the court to take a witness stand,” he said.
As to the discharge of Ivler from the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Mantaring said they have to wait for the advice of the doctor when he will be allowed to be discharged from the hospital and be transferred to Quezon City Jail.
“He is recuperating and it is up to the doctors for the go signal. The Quezon City court has already issued a commitment order so once the doctors approve of his discharge, then we are ready to transport him to QC jail,” said Mantaring.
The NBI director said they have yet to come out with the findings whether there is basis or not to charge British diplomat and Asian Development Bank consultant Stephen Pollard for obstruction
of justice.
“We are still waiting for the result of the probe being conducted by the Special Action Unit (SAU) if he has prior knowledge about Ivler’s whereabouts,” he said.
