Of drugs and Chokoleit
Stand-up comedian Chokoleit was affected by rumors that he’s hooked on illegal drugs.
Weeks back, a blind item about a gay comedian allegedly addicted to drugs came out. Later, a tabloid report identified the comedian as Chockoleit.
Initially, Chokie was shocked upon hearing about it. He was fuming mad, saying the report reeked of fallacy.
But what bothered him even more was that his family got affected by the ugly rumor about one of their siblings.
“Kung ako lang, ano lang, ipinagkibit-balikat ko lang ‘yan. Pero ‘pag ang mga kapatid ko na nagte-text sa akin...Kung ako lang, kayang-kaya ko ang sistema. Pero paano naman sila? Paano nila iha-handle ang ganoong situation?” the comedian explained on "Showbiz News Ngayon," Feb. 9.
SNN reporter Mario Dumaual blatantly asked Chokie if he’s indeed doing drugs.
The gay comedian jokingly retorted, “Sa drugstore ko binibili.”
Turning serious, Chokoleit stressed that the rumor is absolutely false. “Ako, kare-renew ko lang ng driver’s license ko, ng life insurance. Nagbibigay ako ng dugo. Hindi naman ako aaprubahan kung may kinalaman ako mismo sa ganyan,” he said.
The comedian pleaded to his detractors to stop spreading ugly rumors about him.
“Hindi po naman ‘yan nakikita sa hitsura. Sana man lang, don’t go overboard. Kung ano ang sinulat nyo, isipin n’yo lang na nakakasira din kayo,” he said.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta seemed unaffected by the drug issue being hurled at her semi-regular talk show co-host.
“Totoong tao si Chokie, bukod sa napaka-talented niya, napakasaya pa niyang kasama,” Sharon said.
