Judge sets February 16 arraignment for Ivler
Whether road rage killing suspect Jason Aguilar Ivler remains in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation will depend on orders of the court and doctors now treating him at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, an NBI official said Wednesday.
Lawyer Angelito Magno, chief of NBI Special Action Unit, said the bureau has already received a subpoena directing it to bring Aguilar to the sala of Judge Alexander Balut, QC RTC Branch 76. Magno said Ivler will remain in the custody of the NBI until such time the bureau turns him over to QC Jail.
The NBI is now waiting for the advice of the doctors regarding the transfer of Jason Ivler to the Quezon City jail, he said.
Meanwhile, Ivler’s mother, Marlene Aguilar, said his son remains in critical condition and should not be discharged from hospital.
“Once the doctors give a go signal for his discharge, the NBI will transport him to the QC jail and the bureau will no longer have a hand in securing him,” said Magno.
He said in the event that Ivler is still confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center on the day of his scheduled arraignment on Feb. 16, the NBI will bring him to the court unless there is a court order not to do so.
“We are directed by the court to bring him to QC court for his arraignment on Feb. 16. So we will bring him out of his hospital room to QC court and then transport him back to the hospital if he is still confined at the hospital at the time (Feb. 16),” he said.
