MMDA denies tow claims
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) distanced itself Friday from abusive tow truck operators that have become the headache of motorists plying Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and other major roads.
Oscar Inocentes, MMDA chairman, belied that the agency has given its consent on the anomalous practices of some vehicle haulers as earlier reported by several newspapers and tabloids.
“No single towing company now is given accreditation by the MMDA. Only our own tow trucks are authorized to haul stuck vehicles,” Inocentes said.
The MMDA chief said he learned from tabloid reports that two tow truck companies operating in Quezon City have been dropping the agency’s name in its towing practices.
“These unscrupulous people are said to be dragging names of MMDA officials in their operations, and that is a complete lie. Time and again, I have made it clear that I will not tolerate such activities,” Inocentes said.
