BF gets commuters, pedestrians’ support
Bagumbayan vice presidential candidate Bayani “BF” Fernando vowed to protect the welfare and safety of commuters and pedestrians all over the country by making the roads and sidewalks safe, orderly and accessible.
“We have proven that we could make the roads in safer, clean and orderly for the benefit of every road users especially the commuters and pedestrians. We did it in our cities and in Metro Manila, we can do better elsewhere in the Philippines,” Fernando, the former MMDA Chairman, said.
Fernando is the running mate of Bagumbayan standard bearer Senator Richard Gordon for the May 2010 elections. Gordon and Bayani are known as “The Transformers” who were highly recognized for their remarkable transformation of Olongapo and Marikina, respectively.
Both cities were visited by natural disasters like the Mt. Pinatubo eruption and typhoon Ondoy but both rebounded quickly from the calamities.
Fernando’s contributions to the welfare of commuters were highly recognized by the National Council for Commuters Protection Inc., a non-government organization that promotes the welfare of commuters and pedestrians in the country.
NCCPI President Elvira Medina said that their organization, which represents millions of commuters and pedestrians, lauds Fernando for his accomplishments in making the roads of Metro Manila commuter- friendly.
“Our country needs leaders like Bayani if we really want genuine and no-nonsense transformation in our daily lives. Majority of Filipinos are commuting and using the sidewalks everyday and it is only Bayani who has shown concern to the commuters when he was chairman of the MMDA,” Medina stressed.
Fernando has been gaining several endorsements and supports form various sectors including well-known journalists, government officials and youth leaders. Earlier, ATAMBAY, a party-list candidate with 200,000 strong-member organization nationwide has declared full support to the candidacy of Fernando.
