DAVAO CITY – The tables were turned as Buluan vice-mayor Ismael ‘Toto’ Mangudadatu was named as one of the respondents in a murder case after a shoot-out incident that killed the right-hand bodyguard of Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. in a mall here.

This developed after a witness filed a complaint at the prosecutor’s Friday morning, claiming that the vice mayor was behind the killing of  Tamano Kamindan, 41, of Sharif Aguak, C/Supt. Caesar Cabuhat.

Natividad Arce Kamindan, the victim’s wife, said that before the shootout happened, Mangudadatu approached them at the Gaisano South Mall, and asked them where the Maguindanao governor was. She said they did not know where he is, adding they have not seen him for a long time.

Later, she said her husband rushed away to no avail as Mangudadatu allegedly told his escorts to fire Kamindan.

But Mangudadatu said they were attacked by Kamindan while they were shopping inside the mall – compelling his escorts to fire at him.

It was learned that the two admitted that they fired at Tamano Kamindan, 41, resident of Sharif Aguak, after Kamindan forcibly took one of Mangudadatu’s daughters and attempted to snatch firearms from one of the escorts of the vice mayor.

Also, Lakas Kampi CMD standard bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. on Saturday advised Mangudadatu, his staunch political ally, to subject himself to police investigation in connection with the killing of a trusted aide of the Ampatuans in Davao City.

In an interview during a sports fest commemorating the 43rd founding anniversary of the Our Lady of Fatima University, Teodoro also disclosed that he had talked to Mangudadatu about the killing of Tamano Kamendan, 41, reportedly as trusted aide of the Ampatuan clan at JS Southmall last Thursday night.

“I have talked to him and advised him,” the former defense chief said.

“He told me that he will be open to any investigation to give light to the incident,” he added. (with report from Aris Ilagan)
