Lovers still pin their hope on Quiapo ‘stars’
Is your love story written in the stars? Ask the fortune-tellers of Quiapo, Manila.
Many Filipino romantics, who believe that finding one's true love was already written by God, once again flocked to Quiapo Church last Saturday for consultation in finding their one true love.
Like Dennis Cancho, 32, of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, he went to Quiapo, Manila and sought the advice of soothsayers outside the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church) if he should reconcile with his live-in partner, who decided to end their three-year relationship.
“I just recently broke up with my live-in partner. I just wanted to consult them if we will get back together or will I find a new girlfriend in the coming weeks,” said vendor Dennis Cancho, 32, of San Jose Del Monte.
Other couples, like Daryl and Jocelyn Mariones, who claimed to have been happily married for eight years now, decided to consult the fortune tellers on what the coming year holds for them.
“We are not here to consult them (fortune tellers) if we are destined or not because we know we are destined for each other. What we want to know is what our future would be,” Jocelyn said.
True enough, Quiapo district has been a go-to place of lovers and couples who don’t want to spend much money in celebrating Valentine’s Day in Manila.
For just P100 to P500, couples can consult the seers on their future just after hearing a mass at Quiapo Church.
According to Aling Cely Dimzon, 43, who claimed to have been telling fortune since she was 12 years old, most couples frequently ask her if their relationship will last or if their relationship will be in a rough time.
“I even had some clients who will ask me whether their partners were cheating on them or if their partners were faithful to them," she said in Filipino.
