2NE1 to reclaim pop throne

Nine months after their public debut, all-female pop group 2NE1 is set to make a grand comeback in the Korean music scene via an appearance on the MBC TV program, “Music Core,” on February 20.
2NE1 members Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL and Minzy will be performing their new song, “Try to Copy Me” (aka “Follow Me”), on the show.
“Try to Copy Me” (aka “Follow Me”), a song created to promote Samsung’s Corby cell phone—which 2NE1 is endorsing—has topped Korean music charts since its release online last week.
Just recently “Try to Copy Me” has grabbed the No. 1 spot on the online music download site Monkey3’s weekly chart for the period covering Feb. 8-14.
“Try to Copy Me” has edged out Girls Generation’s “Oh,” which slid to No. 2. “Oh” was on the top spot for the last two weeks.
On the Melon music chart for the period Feb. 7 to 13, “Try to Copy Me” is at No. 8. The top song is 2AM’s “Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die” followed by “Oh,” which was No. 1 last week.
2NE1 was launched last year by YG Entertainment and debuted with the single “Fire.”
So far, they have received 15 awards—the latest of which is the plum for Song of the Year [for their single “I Don’t Care”]. It was awarded at the M.net Asian Music Awards last December.
