P3.8 billion plunder case filed against Syjuco
The Public Services Labor Independent Confederation (PSLINK) and other anti-corruption advocates Wednesday filed plunder charges before the Ombudsman against Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary General Augusto “Boboy’’ Syjuco over his alleged gross negligence and mismanagement involving a total amount of P3.8 billion.
Annie Enriquez-Geron, PSLINK general-secretary, said their complaint affidavit consolidated at least six major irregular transactions and cases including his caravans, infomercials and diversion of funds to his district in Iloilo.
Among the charges include violation of Republic Act (RA) 7080 or the Anti Plunder Law, RA 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct of and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees, and General Appropriations Act of 2006, 2007 and 2008.
”The amount as a result of the overpricing represents nearly 20 percent of the total loan amounting to P302 Million,’’ Geron claimed.
