President Arroyo is ready to make history in Philippine politics by becoming the first Filipino to become a speaker after serving as head of state.

Lakas-Kampi-CMD partymates of Arroyo said they are confident that the next House leader will come from their party which will nominate no other speakership candidate but the incumbent president.

Arroyo is a cinch to win the congressional elections in Pampanga’s second district which is currently be held by her son, Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo.

“It will not be difficult for PGMA who will be Congresswoman in the 15th Congress to become the Speaker,” said Deputy Speaker Simeon Datumanong of Maguindanao.

Deputy Speaker for Luzon Eric Singson said Lakas-Kampi-CMD is expected to dominate the House in the 15th Congress.
