First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo was slightly injured after his car figured in a road accident in Mandaluyong City Wednesday morning.

The accident occured early Wednesday while Mr. Arroyo was on his way to a round of golf in Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Mr. Arroyo reportedly had a minor bump on his head when his sports utility vehicle crashed into a post to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

Press Secretary Crispulo Icban Jr. confirmed that Mr. Arroyo was involved in a vehicular accident but assured the President's husband has no serious head injury.

Icban, in a phone interview, said Mr. Arroyo appeared calm and healthy after undergoing a checkup at St. Luke's hospital following the road mishap.

The President, who was immediately informed about the car accident, was relieved over the safety of her husband, according to the Palace official.

Early in the day, Palace officials were unaware about First Gentleman's condition when informed by the press about his reported road accident.

Mr. Arroyo underwent a major heart surgery a few years ago and is now undergoing rehabilitation. He has stayed away from the media spotlight after he was dragged into a number of corruption controversies.
