A Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge will be awarded a plaque commending him for his bravery at the Quezon City Hall grounds on Monday.

The Quezon City Council approved a resolution honoring Judge Ralph Lee of RTC Branch 83 for rescuing hundreds of residents at height of tropical storm “Ondoy’’ last Sept. 26.

Using his jet-ski, Judge Lee braved fast-rising floodwater to rescue distressed residents of Palmera Homes in barangay Santa Monica in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The resolution said Judge Lee risked his life showing the true “Bayanihan’’ spirit in saving the lives of more than 100 of his neighbors.

Jimmy Borres of the city’s third district said that Judge Lee’s heroic act is more commendable since it is unthinkable that a man of his stature will actually do the rescuing.

“Alam ko tauhan ng mga politiko o kaya ahensiya ng pamahalaan ang gagawa niyan pero isang hukom parang di kapanipaniwala pero totoo (I know that personnel of politicians or people from government agencies might to the rescuing jobs but a judge doing it very unbelievable but it’s true)’’ Borres said.
