Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire scored his 23rd win and 15th knockout in his most recent triumph against Manuel Vargas---and his idol, Manny Pacquiao, witnessed it.

The WBA Super Flyweight Champion said he wasn’t pressured with the pound-per-pound king’s presence. On the contrary, it inspired him more as he knocked out his Mexican opponent on the third round.

“I felt like Superman nung nandun si Manny. I felt grateful and blessed na nandun ‘yong idol ko,” he said in a “Startalk” interview.

As always, he will show his support for his fellow boxing champ as Pacquiao battles it out with Joshua Clottey on March 13.

Donaire said: “He’s the master of his art. My prayers will be there for him and alam ko na nagte-training siya nang husto. Alam ko na gagawin niya ang lahat for himself and for the country.”

The Filipino Flash admitted that he had difficulties re-structuring his strategy against Vargas, since he was just a replacement for his original opponent, Gerson Guerrero, who wasn't allowed to fight for failing his eye examination.

“Ang daming kailangang i-change… kasi na-memorize ko na 'yong kalaban ko so ‘yong katawan ko ready na… Talagang nahirapan ako in terms of game plan and improvising,” he shared.

Should his life story be made into a movie like Manny, Nonito said it would be an inspiration to children.

“I feel that ang buhay ko inspiration sa mga bata. Kasi feeling ko noon wala akong mapupuntahan, wala akong dreams, wala akong tomorrow. Like before binu-bully ako ng mga tao. So if ever na gagawa sila ng movie, I want to be an inspiration to children,” he related.

The singing boxer’s next fight is set on May 8, although negotiations for his next rival are still underway.
