Lacson nabbed in Malaysia?
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday it is still verifying information that Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson was arrested in Malaysia.
Lawyer Claro de Castro, chief of NBI Interpol Division, said the bureau is still in the process of verification the information on Lacson.
Reports from the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia said that it has yet to receive any information regarding the senator’s arrest. The Philippines is exerting effort to verify to other apprehending units of the Malaysia regarding the information.
Information also said that a law enforcement unit arrested four Filipinos in Kuala Lumpur for immigration document violation.
Coincidentally, one of the names of the arrested Filipinos sounds like that of Senator Lacson.
Prior to Malaysia report, Lacson seemed to keep on moving as he was monitored to have left Macau on January 28 for Hong Kong, a ranking official of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.
Reports said Lacson, who is now in the Interpol’s red notice, left the Philippines for Hong Kong on January 5.
Lacson was reported to have traveled to China and information obtained by NBI revealed that he left Guangdong, China for Macau last January 18 by a car, according to a ranking official of the NBI who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Lacson, who is carrying a Philippine passport with No. DP0001469 left Zhuhai City , Guangdong Province, China on January 18 for Macau by car.
Latest information said Lacson left Macau for Hong Kong on January 28.
“At that time (January 28), there was no warrant of arrest issued against him and is not yet in the Interpol’s Red Notice. He can freely travel at that time,” the official said.
