On the 25th of this month, Araneta Center will be painted yellow as an estimated 18,000 supporters of Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will assemble there to “learn from the past and fight for future” and commemorate the anniversary of the first EDSA People Power Revolution.

Aquino is expected to give the “marching orders” to the so-called “Yellow Army,” composed mostly of volunteer youth who intend to become agent of change.

“We consider it not as political activity but more of a commemoration of the anniversary of People Power I, learning from past and fighting for future, anyone who wants change in the government is invited to take part in celebration and learning. A big chunk of youth were not born in 86, this is learning for them to see spirit of people power,” lawyer Abigail Valte, media bureau unit head of the Aquino campaign, said.

Valte said they expect other camps to criticize them for doing the said program.

“You cannot separate Noynoy from his parents. (Because the focal point of people power revolution apart from people who came out and massed in 1986 will be, Ninoy who offered his life so that the dictatorship can be dismantled and democracy can blossom in this country. You cannot deny the fact Noynoy has been an intimate and almost inseparable part of the whole process,” Valte pointed out.

Valte said the candidacy of Aquino is part of the whole continuum.

“We will make sure that the votes will be guarded, we will make sure people come out to vote. After that we will be there to watch and see what we can do to help the country,” Valte said.

Valte said Aquino will give the marching orders to the yellow army on what needs to be done, what we can contribute for the coming elections.

During the event, artists like Ogie Alcasid, Sponge Cola, Brownman Revival, Christian Bautista, Eric Santos, and many others agreed to perform free of charge.

Similar activities will also be held in Davao, Cebu, Naga, and other key cities in the country.
