Pharex B, Ascof Lagundi pip rivals
Games Friday (Ynares Sports Arena)
2 p.m. – Cobra Energy Drink vs Cossack Blue
4 p.m. - Pharex B-Complex vs Ascof Lagundi
Pharex B-Complex made sure it won’t repeat the same mistake it committed the last time as it repulsed Fern-C’s searing comeback, 85-77, in the 2010 PBL PG Flex-Erase Placenta Cup Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Fighting Maroons led by 13 points early in the payoff period then hung tough in the face of a fiery Fern-C rally which the former JRU Heavy Bomber John Wilson initiated to score their second win in three games.
The win was actually a big comeback for Pharex which absorbed a heart-breaking 78-77 loss opposite the league-leading Cobra Energy Drink last Saturday. It was the third straight defeat for Fern-C.
In that game, the second franchise of Pascual Laboratories led by 10 points in the final canto but blew it away – no thanks to the great one-man show of Paul Lee. The 6-foot Lee capped his heroics by making the game-winning lay up off a turnover in the dying seconds.
Not to be outdone, Ascof Lagundi, the other team of Pascual Laboratories, beat AddMix, 80-76 – big thanks to Sean Co’s completed three-points play with 37.2 ticks left.
Co made up for his muffed three-point attempt earlier by making the shot off Gio Ciriacruz's only foul of the game as the Cough Busters won their first game in three outings. Bam Gamalinda led the way with 20 points in the win.
Former Far Eastern University standout Marlon Adolfo topscored for Pharex with 15 points while ex-Philippine School of Business Administration cager Vic Manuel continued his strong play with 14 points and seven rebounds.
