DAVAO CITY – The Region 11 office here of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI 11) will be establishing satellite business assistance centers to spur economic activities and investment flow.

Marizon Loreto, DTI 11 regional director, said the setting up of the National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) is expected to drumbeat investments in the region.

“In doing so, the NERBAC would provide a number of assistance to businessmen or potential investors depending on their needs,” Loreto said.

It was learned that at present, only a single NERBAC center was established for the entire region.

Republic Act 7470 paved the way for the creation of NERBAC where it aims to provide robust government support to prospective investors.

A NERBAC center would assist clients who would avail of the government’s myriad of services for start-up businesses, which include business registration, exports documentation, applications for national and local incentives, investment promotion, and knowledge management.

Among the agencies housed at the NERBAC center include the Board of Investments (BoI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Bureau of Customs (BoC), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), and Social Security System (SSS).
