Black Eyed Peas dislodges Ke$ha, Sade stays on top
The Black Eyed Peas returns to the top of the singles chart with “Imma Be” as it dislodges Ke$ha’s nine-week reign at the singles chart.
Black Eyed Peas’ current number one single is the latest from a string of hit singles from the Peas' fifth album “The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies).” Previous chart-topping tracks from the album are “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.”
Another charting single, “Meet Me Halfway,” failed to hit the apex at the US Billboard singles chart but still managed to peak at number seven. "Imma Be" is the fourth consecutive top ten single from the American hip-hop group.
Ke$ha gets booted down from her lofty perch atop the charts as “Tik Tok” succumbs and halts at number two this week. Despite an impressive nine-week domination of the singles chart, “Tik Tok” falls a week short of matching the record for the longest staying number one hit single for a debut artist, which still stands at ten weeks.
Young Money featuring Lloyd continues to solidify its single chart status by improving to number three from last week’s number four showing with “Bedrock.” Lady Gaga does the same by improving up a notch to number four with “Bad Romance.” Country act Lady Antebellum likewise raises its last week’s standing by going up from six to number five this week with “Need You Now.”
“We Are The World 25: for Haiti” drops four notches this week to number six after its strong debut at the singles chart last week at number two, but the remake of the 25 year-old is the number one downloaded song this week.
Train steadily chugs along and maintains its number seven spot showing, and Ludacris follows suit with “How Low,” which holds steady at number eight; Jason Derulo, meanwhile, holds his number nine spot at the singles chart with “In My Head.”
And finally, debuting his new single at the Hot 100 is Trey Songz featuring Fabolous with “Say Aah,” which climbs from number twelve to number ten to close the top ten singles countdown this week.
Meanwhile, Sade continues to hold on the number one spot at the Billboard 200 albums charts with “Soldier Of Love.” Sade moved 190,000 units to stay at the top of the album’s chart despite a slow selling week.
