A “jueteng” whistle-blower from Central Luzon died while his son-in-law was seriously injured when they were shot by four unidentified men riding in tandem aboard a motorcycle early Sunday morning in Pasay City.

Police identified the fatality as Wilfredo Mayor, 59, building contractor of Kalaw St., Executive Village Subdivision, BF Homes, Parañaque City. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital due to gunshot wounds in the body and head.

It could be recalled that Mayor accompanied Sandra Cam who served as witness in a Senate hearing on “jueteng” in 2005.

The victim’s son-in-law, identified as Allan Benedict, 39, was also brought to the same hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound in his body.

Police said both victims, together with Mayor’s nephew, Rommel, 39, of Block 10 Lot 7 St. Luke, Citi Homes Subdivision, Bacoor, Cavite -- who was unhurt -- were on their way home after playing games at a casino in Manila at about 4 a.m. when they were ambushed by the suspects in front of the Park and Fly building located at MIA Road corner Chapel Road, Pasay City.

The victims were on board their colored dark blue Volvo car with plate number RRR-606.

Police said the the gunmen were armed with a .45 caliber pistol and an M16 rifle. They stopped the victims’ vehicle and then opened fire.

Police recovered 18 empty shells of M16 rifle and two empty shells from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
