Excelroof is indeed for real.

The Excelroof 25ers repulsed the determined comeback of the AddMix TransformersA in the fourth quarter to extend their winning run to three with an 83-75 win in the 2010 PBL PG Flex-Erase Placenta Cup last Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Center.

Out to prove that their victories over Cobra Energy Drink and Ani-FCA were no fluke, the 25ers showed steely resolve down the stretch to stay unbeaten in the season-opening tournament.

With the win, the 25ers, owned by the Chua family and managed by sportsman Oliver Gianan, tied Cossack

Blue for the lead with similar 3-0 records. The Transformers slipped to 1-3.

Jimbo Aquino shrugged off a 4-of-11 shooting with a perfect 10-of-10 clip from the foul line to finish with 21 points while lanky center Ian Sangalang made 14 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes.

"Dito namin makikita kung ano yung team ko ngayon, kung capable kami na maging title contender or kung pang-top four lang," said coach Ato Agustin.

In the first game, Fern-C leaned on another prolific shooting exhibition by John Wilson and a late triple by Anthony Espiritu to outlast Agri-FCA, 81-78, and barge into the win column.

Wilson, the NCAA Most Valuable Player from Jose Rizal University, missed the opportunity to score at least 30 points for the third straight time but still made 29 points in 30 minutes of action.

But it was Espiritu who put the Ferntastics in front for good after draining a wide-open trey from the left corner for an 80-78 lead before a series of defensive stops enabled the former PBA star Bal David to savor the sweet taste of victory as a coach.

"Mahalaga tong panalo na to, hopefully madadagan namin yung chemistry at magtiyaga pa kami para mag-improve pa kami," said David.  "Itre-treasure ko tong laro na to dahil first win ko as a coach."
