Triple wins for ‘Racing Pastors’

Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor, Don Pastor and the Pastor patriatrch, Tom, achieved a “triple victory” recently in motor sports.
Enzo, recipient of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) award for motor sports, came through with a podium finish in the 2009 Macau Grand Prix Asian Touring Car CTM to put the Philippines in the history book of the famed Asian race.
Enzo’s feat came after a long wait of 40 years since the late Arsenio “Dodjie” Laurel won back-to-back titles.
The younger Don, meanwhile, was handed the the prestigious Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP) Driver of the Year award for topping the AAP Touring Car Championship’s 10-race series.
The Pastor siblings were able to beat the odds despite a low budget with their tremendous competitivenes and ripened racing skills.
Tom, for his part, ably managed the career of his two sons his two sons thus making the two young guns win their races and made the Philippines known all over Asia as one of the hubs of motor sports.
Enzo, sponsored by Bench and the PCSO/Pagcor, emerged as the first Filipino to win the Asian Formula Renault championship in 2002 while Don took the first scholarship from the prestigious school of racing and training by the Formula BMW in Valencia, Spain.
