PCID offers research grants on Muslim studies
Here's good news for those interested in doing research on the various issues confronting the Muslim or Bangsamoro communities in the country. The Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy (PCID) is offering the 2010 PCID Research Fellowship Program to Philippine resident Muslims.
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung is supporting the research fellowship.
Amina Rasul, lead convenor of PCID, said the research fellowship, which will grant P25,000 each to researchers with approved applications, is designed to encourage Muslim scholarship and discourse.
Student, academics, intellectuals, and researchers from the country's Muslim community will have to do a short-term, independent and original projects to be qualified, she said.
The research must be anchored on the political and military aspects of ethnic conflicts; socio-economic dimensions of sovereignty and autonomy issues; adverse effects of globalization on ethnic differences, cultural intolerance and autonomy; lessons from past peace processes and how ongoing negotiations should proceed; study of institutional capabilities and impact within the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM); study of federalism and autonomy as Bangsamoro options and study of political violence and uncheck culture of impunity in Muslim Mindanao; media's impact on peace and conflict; effect of interfaith dialogue; studies on Muslim women rights, among others subjects.
