DPWH to expedite Osmeña Bridge repair work
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) vowed Saturday to expedite the repair work of the Osmeña Bridge along the South Super Highway in Manila as motorists have complained the worsening traffic in the area.
DPWH Undersecretary for Luzon Romeo Momo said that they will see to it that the rehabilitation of the bridge will be finished within 45 days or by April 15 amid the good weather condition.
“We will take advantage of the summer season for their speedy repair. The heavy traffic that builds up is only a small price to pay for their safety,” Momo said.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) issued the clearance to DPWH to make way for the repair following its findings that the unstable infrastructure may collapse anytime so it needs immediate retrofitting and additional concrete piles. (Raymund Antonio)
