The ghost of Francis M.
It’s been a year since Master Rapper Francis Magalona passed away (March 6, 2009) but he seemingly hasn’t left this plane.
His wife Pia shared on “Startalk” that on a photo taken March 5 at the Loyola Memorial Park, a dark figure—whom they believed to be Francis—can be seen on the upper corner.
It will probably send chills up and down anyone else’s spine, but not to Pia, who welcomes the sighting.
“I’m not afraid. I would tell him before, ‘If you go, you make pakita pa rin to me ha. Kasi I want you to still be around.’ Then he’d go, ‘Aren’t you gonna be scared?’ [I said,] ‘You’re so cute naman, why will I get scared? You’re guwapo. If you’re pangit, then don’t make pakita na to me, ‘di ba?’” she recounted.
The musician and entrepreneur had also made his presence felt to his daughters through some incidences with lights.
“There was this one time sa MTV. Kinuha ako para mag-audition. Before it was my turn, sumabog ‘yong lights. [Then nung pinabalik ako], sumabog ulit,” recounted Saab, who received the “Favorite Collaboration” award on her dad and Ely Buendia’s behalf for the song “Higante” at the recently concluded MYX Music Awards.
Meanwhile, Pia, who also acted as Francis’ manager, said that the delay of the release of his posthumous album was not caused by legality issues, but by this so-called “creative flow.”
“We always have to feel...our creative flow whenever we release an album, so, hindi talaga siya dahil may deadline… we just don’t work that way. So sana naintindihan nung mga nagtatanong,” she explained.
Pia admitted that the preparation for the album is tough, saying, “Kasi I also need to submit pictures and every time I look at the pictures, that’s when I feel sad. Naaalala ko ‘yong mga times niya sa hospital.”
In the end, Pia only hopes to “give Francis what he wants.”
