Duterte slams PASG exec
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte renewed his warning over the weekend to arrest Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) Davao Bureau chief Eduardo Matillano if local businessmen continue to complain of alleged extortion by the PASG.
In his local television broadcast aired Sunday, Duterte made the warning after reports came out that Matillano was supposedly challenging him to a gun duel to finally put an end to their rift.
“The truth is, Duterte and I have a history of being foes. If it were not against the law, I would challenge Duterte to a duel to end this. Let him choose his weapons,” Matillano was quoted as saying in reports (not in the Manila Bulletin).
In his reaction, Duterte said Matillano still acts and behaves as if he is the police regional director of Southern Mindanao.
The mayor warned that if Matillano “will keep on asking money from traders in the city,” then Duterte will personally arrest the retired general.
The mayor said if ever he will accept Matillano’s challenge of a duel, he wanted to include House Speaker Prospero Nograles whom Duterte is accusing to be the “principal” of Matillano and another retired general Jovito Palparan.
