BACOLOD CITY (PNA) — The Korean Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) and Salcon Corporation have agreed to jointly finance the installation of electricity transmission lines to some 184 remote sitios/puroks in Negros Occidental.

Over a series of surveys, Korean Electric Power Corp., Salcon and the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco), jointly identified the areas to be serviced with electricity.

Ceneco's coverage areas include the capital city of Negros Occidental, Bacolod; the cities of Silay and Talisay which are north of Bacolod; and Bago City, a few kilometers south of the provincial capital, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.

Based on the results of the survey, 23 sitios or puroks in Bacolod City will benefit from the installation of electricity lines, two in Murcia municipality, 80 in Bago City, 47 in Silay City and 32 in Talisay City.

To date, 19 percent of the electrification project has been accomplished. This is equivalent to some 35 sitios or puroks, as reported by Engineer Mario L. Nicolas, General Manager of MN Electro Industrial Supply & Services, the contractor of said project.
