A party-list congressman Monday challenged candidates seeking congressional posts to air their stand on the imposition of vehicle parking fees and regulations by government agencies, shopping malls and other commercial establishments.

Rep. Irwin C. Tieng of Buhay Party-list aired the challenge as he batted for the approval of a bill that would impose civil liability for crimes committed in parking spaces.

He said the proposal may no longer be acted upon in the 14th Congress but it stands a good chance of being passed if voters will support candidates who will pledge to support the proposal.

Tieng authored House Bill 7176 which will make anybody engaged in pay parking business equally responsible to crimes committed against a paying customer or his vehicle while inside the parking establishment.
