Brother Eddie vows support for agriculture
PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan -- Bangon Pilipinas presidential bet Bro. Eddie Villanueva made a pledge to residents here that if elected he will establish a more sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and fisheries by providing farmers and fishermen much-needed knowhow and financial assistance.
Villanueva also vowed to put in place vital irrigation and financial support systems that will ease the burden of the agricultural and marine sectors.
The Bangon standard bearer said he will provide government subsidy for procurement of indigenous seeds, fingerlings, organic fish food, fertilizers and pesticides, and tax exemption for local manufacture of farm implements and machines
Villanueva said that he will prioritize the creation of farm-to-market roads, irrigation systems, and post-production facilities.
“The program will address two problems at the same time -- poverty and El Nino,” Villanueva said.
He pointed out that with a country that is blessed with rich natural resources, it will not be hard to create an environment conducive to farming and fishing.
“Our country, geographically speaking, has both land and water. We also have a lot of farmlands and rainforests because of our rich soil. Isn’t this enough reason why we should protect nature’s gifts and start taking care of them? Ito ang yaman ng bansa. This is our edge compared to the other countries,” Villanueva said.
He added that after creating a green, biodiverse and sustainable environment, he will also assure purchase of agricultural, agro-forestry and marine products in the local and international market.
