Nonito and Rachel Donaire are now full-fledged members of 'Team Mikaela.'

He has bravely faced---and reduced to a pulp---Armenian, American, African, Panamanian and Thai boxers, but Pinoy pride Nonito Donaire admits he used to be deathly afraid of getting a facial.

“The idea of getting one makes me go, ‘Oh, my God, I will never ever get a facial!’ It looks painful and I’m sure it will hurt,” said The Filipino Flash.

However, a recent facial service he got at one of the Mikaela aesthetic clinics changed his mind.

“It didn’t hurt at all nor bring tears to my eyes. Now I look forward to getting one [facial],” he said.

That’s good---especially since he and his wife, Fil-Am USA National Collegiate Taekwondo champ Rachel Donaire, are now endorsers of the Mikaela Medical Team. The two are now full-fledged members of “Team Mikaela.”

More than the facial, Nonito says he likes getting body scrubs at Mikaela. Although he is aware that some people may frown on his doing so, considering Nonito’s requisite image as a toughie, the top six pound-for-pound fighter in the world explains that he, after all, has a life that he is entitled to enjoy outside his job.

“Taking better care of myself doesn’t take anything away from my masculinity. What’s wrong if I want my face to be as smooth as a baby’s butt? At para mapanatiling ganun, di na lang ako magpapatama sa mukha.

“Anyway, in boxing, it’s better to give than to receive,” he quipped, sending the media in stitches.

Nonito revealed that he can never have a Diamond Peel even if he wants to try it out.

“Masyado daw kasing manipis ang balat ng mukha ko. Para nga daw hindi pang-boksingero,” he explained.

Asked for his forecast on the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey, Nonito gave a sure answer.

“Manny will win. If he doesn’t knock out Clottey, he will get it through decision. About 85% ang kutob ko na mag-decision in Manny’s favor, while the remaining 15% tells me that Manny will have Clottey cold on the floor.”

Nonito pinchhits for Manny on “Show me Da Manny.” He has done about five episodes of the show and will undergo workshops to improve on his acting. He and Rachel have also been texting Pac-Man and his family as a show of support especially now that the Pacquiao-Clottey match is neigh.

Does he aim to surpass Manny’s achievements?

“No, it’s not even that. I think every Filipino boxer thinks of Manny as one who opened the door again for other boxers. He even gave us a blueprint on how to go up in weight division.

“For me, it’s enough that I give my best regardless if it surpasses Manny’s standards and achievements.”

According to a press release, Mikaela couldn’t have picked more apt endorsers than Nonito and Rachel. The two prized athletes obviously watch over their health and fitness zealously in order to deliver the goods.
