P125 million Guimaras infrastructure projects to start
JORDAN, Guimaras, March 10 (PNA) — The proposed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) infrastructure program for the Guimaras Lone District this year has began to move in the right direction, with eight bids worth P125 million awarded to winning bidders.
Sealed bids were opened at the Guimaras Engineering District in the municipality of Jordan, the provincial capital, before members of the Provincial Bids and Awards Committee headed by Engineer Ernesto Subido and the local media just recently.
Fourteen contractors participated in the said bidding process.
The funds allocated for the infrastructure program is directed towards the upgrading and rehabilitation of national as well as barangay roads throughout the entire province.
Moreover, completion of unfinished road projects is also in the agenda of the DPWH.
Progress in the tiny island of Guimaras, dubbed as the country's Mango Capital, has been rapid in the last 10 years with the installation of major infrastructures under the administration of Governor Felipe Nava.
