The Pasay City government will ensure that election paraphernalia of candidates who were vying for various positions in the May 10 elections will strictly follow the guidelines set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that their posters and other campaign materials will only be posted in designated areas.

Mayor Peewee Trinidad, in the wake of proliferation of election paraphernalia, through posters plastered on walls and fences around the city, ordered the Office of the City Administrator through the Waste Management Office to ensure that the campaign materials are only placed on designated areas.

Trinidad said that various candidates for national posts have earlier scattered their posters and banners around the city and with the start of the campaign for local election son March 26 more of these are expected to clutter strategic areas.

The mayor appealed to politicians and their supporters to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Comelec for them to follow strictly the designated places for their campaign materials.

Trinidad, who himself is mounting a campaign for another term, assured all other candidates a “fair game” in all aspects of the coming elections, be it in the distribution of campaign materials or other aspects of the elections.

In ensuring that his instructions are followed, Trinidad ordered City Administrator Ernestina Bernabe-Carbajal to strictly monitor efforts being implemented by the City Waste management Office.

Trinidad also gave directives to the officials of the City District Office of the Department of Education to ensure that all walls and fences of schools are free from election posters and banners.
