Trouble brews in GMA Cabinet
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director general Rogelio Peyuan is reportedly on his way out from the Arroyo Cabinet over alleged differences with his predecessor.
The President has apparently revoked the TESDA appointment of Peyuan three days after he took his oath in Malacañang, and he may now be transferred to another government position.
Press Secretary Crispulo Icban Jr., however, said the situation on Peyuan's appointment is still fluid.
He admitted though that the President may likely appoint a new TESDA chief to replace Peyuan.
He said Peyuan may be transferred to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) due to his skills in "human relations."
Icban declined to state the reasons behind the latest change in Cabinet appointment or how this will be affected by a government ban on election appointments.
Peyuan served as deputy director general of TESDA prior to his promotion.
He replaced TESDA chief Augusto Syjuco Jr. who will run for congressman in Iloilo province.
Meanwhile, hundreds of TESDA workers stormed out of their offices in disgust yesterday morning following news that Malacañang had revoked Peyuan’s appointment.
Agency directors, administrators and union members picketed in front of the TESDA Women’s Center, which sat right across the TESDA main building.
The protesters barricaded all but one gate of the TESDA compound located on East Service Road, South Superhighway, Taguig City.
They expressed sympathy to Peyuan after they were told that he has been dislodged from his new post.
