DALLAS, Texas — Just as he is hardworking in training for a fight, Manny Pacquiao is also very dedicated to his other passion: Singing.

As soon as Pacquiao wrapped up his final workout Thursday afternoon for this weekend’s slugfest with Joshua Clottey, the pound-for-pound king took off his training gear, dressed up in street clothes and immediately walked towards a makeshift studio just several feet away from the very same ring that he had used to rehearse some songs for his post-fight party.

Pacquiao has a scheduled mini-concert at the Diamond Club inside the old Texas Rangers Arena on Saturday night not only as a treat and tribute to his fans and followers but a victory party as well.

So certain of victory is Pacquiao that he belted out La Bamba with Manila-based songwriter and artist Lito Camo for his first piece as members of the Philippine and foreign media looked on with the boxer appearing unperturbed by the prospects of facing what many ringsiders believe is a dangerous opponent.

Before grabbing the microphone, Pacquiao had actually performed serious work under trainer Freddie Roach although everything that he carried out was light and easy, a far cry from the intense workouts that he did in Los Angeles the last six weeks.

Since 2005, it’s been a practice by Pacquiao to attend a post-fight party that members of his entourage had arranged and nothing has changed for this fight where the 31-year-old boxer expects to take to the stage and party with his fans until the wee hours of the following morning.
