A Nacionalista Party stalwart Friday slammed Liberal Party presidential bet Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III for making “unreasonable and impractical” demands on the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico said Aquino is manifesting signs of being a “spoiled brat” when he asked the poll body to scrap the name of a disqualified presidential candidate from the official ballots that would be used for the May automated elections.

Aquino has filed a petition asking the Comelec to remove the name of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) standard bearer Vetellano Acosta from the official ballots after the poll body itself declared the candidate a nuisance bet.

But Suplico claimed Aquino’s demand is impractical considering the poll body is already facing time-constraints and lack of budget.

The Comelec rejected Aquino’s petition to print a new set of ballots which the Liberal Party camp refused to acknowledge.

Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal who heads the Comelec steering committee on automation, explained that at least 10 million of the more than 50 million ballots have already been printed by the National Printing Office.

The poll body is still printing the rest of the ballots and aims to finish as soon as possible.

“Once again, Sen. Noynoy Aquino displays all the markings of a spoiled brat. He thinks he can throw his weight around and pressure the Comelec into submission,” Suplico claimed.

"The implications of the request, I cannot even begin to comprehend,” he said.

Aquino’s camp also questioned the way the name of NP standard bearer Sen. Manuel Villar, Jr. is separated from the other presidential bets, allegedly believing that such formation would be advantageous to Villar who remains Aquino’s closest rival in the presidential race.
