Old grudge leads to death of truck helper
An old spat over work allegedly triggered at least six men to take turns in stabbing a 39-year-old truck helper in Tondo, Manila last Saturday evening.
The fatality, who was killed on the spot due to multiple stab wounds all over the body, was identified as Joseph Bernas, of Building 3 Unit 509, Permanent Housing, Tondo in Manila.
Law enforcers immediately arrested all the six suspects who were only identified as a certain Benjie, Rodrigo, Tonet, Patrick, Elot, and Dondon.
They are now detained at Manila Police District Station 1 (Raxabago), according to Police Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo, head of the Manila Police District Homicide investigation.
Investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Jonathan Bautista of the MPD-Homicide section showed that the stabbing took place at around 8:30 p.m. of Saturday inside a compound at 2156 Rodriguez Street, Balut in Tondo, Manila.
The suspects were allegedly engaged in a drinking binge in the compound when they saw Bernas, who was reportedly drunk, knocking at the compound's steel gate and asking them to open the door.
But as Benjie opened the door for the victim, Bernas allegedly sprung at the former and tried to stab him on the chest.
