Cita Astals claims to have fallen victim to land-grabbing syndicate
Former councilor Cita Astals corrected reports that she has been loitering in the streets because she is financially unstable.
Rather, the former comedienne said she does so because she is a victim of a land-grabbing syndicate.
“Merong land-grabbing syndicate dito sa atin at ako ay binibiktima sa kasalukuyan. ‘Yung nakikita niyo na madalas akong umalis ng bahay, it’s precisely because kada-makalawang araw, nira-ransack ‘yung bahay ko,” she revealed.
Cita, who served nine years as a district councilor in Manila, said she is planning to file a case soon.
She said that she has persistently reported the incidents to the authorities but to no avail.
“Nung nag-reklamo ako sa [Camp] Krame, ginupit ng pulis ‘yung kuryente ko. The other time, they took out the water. It’s really a deliberate way of driving me out of the house because they want the lot,” she divulged.
According to a police interviewed on “Central,” Cita’s complaint cannot be processed because of lack of witness and proof.
“Wala ‘yung imbestigador ngayon. Walang witnesses [sa reklamo]. We also coordinated with the barangay officials pero it cannot be proven kung may pumasok o wala. We put the case into follow-up na lang,” he said.
One of Cita’s friends in the industry, Lou Veloso—an incumbent councilor in Manila—said she was offered by Vice Mayor Isko Moreno to work again at the Manila City Hall.
However, “Alam mo naman si Cita, strong woman ‘yan. Hangga’t kaya niya kakayanin niya,” Lou said.
He hopes for Cita's closest relatives and friends to show their support for her.
