Re-electionist senator Bong Revilla has learned to take tirades against him with a grain of salt.

“Sanay na ako diyan. Habang sinisiraan nila ako, lalo akong iboboto. Ang tagal ko na rin sa politics… since 1995 pa. Siguro naman sa tagal na ‘yon, eh, matatag na ako. Normal na ‘yon. Basta ang importante, hindi totoo ‘yung binabatikos sa atin at wala tayong kasalanan,” he said.

It is recalled that Bong was the subject of a demolition job recently; one that involved a video uploaded on YouTube that purportedly had him talking about shady plans for the elections.

In a presscon tendered for him and his wife Lani Mercado by Regal Matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde, Bong said that intrigues in showbiz are nothing compared to politics.

“Mas grabe ang intriga sa politika kaysa sa showbiz. Sa showbiz, marami na kaming intrigang pinagdaanan kaya mas preparado na kami. Kumbaga, trained na kami,” Bong explained.

The best thing one can do under these circumstances is to focus on one's goal, he offered.

“Alam mo sa politika kasi, maraming pagsubok iyan eh. Ang dapat, huwag kang maapektuhan. Ako, marami na akong pinagdaanan. Lilipas din iyan. Lulutang ang tama.”

Bong is consistently topping surveys. His luck seems to have rubbed on his wife Lani, who is running for congresswoman in Cavite. Like Bong, Lani also prominently tops the surveys.

“Natutuwa ako sa pagtitiwala ng mga tao. Anywhere I go, napakainit ng pagtanggap sa akin. Talagang nakakatuwa. Tuloy-tuloy ang suwerte natin na nanggaling pa sa ‘Panday’,” he said.

“(Lani's) doing very well in the survey. Sabi ko nga, kung eleksyon na bukas, tapos na ang halalan. Matibay na ‘yon dahil kung masama ang takbo niya sa Bacoor, siguro nangangampanya ako sa Bacoor lang. Sa nakikita ko, maganda naman ang takbo niya,” Bong said with a glint in his chinky eyes.

Bong is interested in doing a remake of “Kapitan Inggo: Kumakain ng Bala” which is planned as one of the episodes in ABS-CBN’s “Agimat” TV series.

He said that if his son Jolo will star on that “Kapitan Inggo” episode, then he will rethink doing a film version.
