Jeson Patrombon and Francis Casey Alcantara easily advanced in the Grade 1 Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup ITF Championships in Kuching, Malaysia with convincing victories Wednesday.

Patrombon banked on his strong groundstrokes to bump off unseeded Kalle Averfalk of Sweden, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to the next round.

Alcantara, who drew a first round bye, toppled Adam Lee of New Zealand, 6-3, 7-5, in the second round.

The win set up Patrombon to a rematch with fifth pick Ben McLachlan of New Zealand, who earned a first-round bye.

McLachlan beat Patrombon, 6-2, 6-4, last year in the Grade 1 Mitsubishi ITF Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Alcantara set up a third round meeting with the winner between, No. 14 Dane Webb of the United States and wildcard bet Mohd Assri Merzuki of Malaysia.

Alcantara, seeded second with partner Jeong Suk-young of Korea in the doubles event, also drew a first round bye.
