BAGUIO CITY — A 26-year-old civil engineer was shot and wounded by her own mother at the height of an argument between them inside their house in Dominican Hill, here, the other day.

Senior Superintendent Agripino Javier, director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim, Marivic Almeda, single, has been declared out of danger by doctors at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

Her mother, Josefa Gunnawa-Almeda, separated, has fled their house in Dominican Hill after the shooting incident, Javier said.

He said the mother and daughter had engaged in a heated argument on personal issues when the suspect took out her gun and shot at the victim, hitting her once in the neck.

Relatives took the victim to the hospital as her mother fled their house, Javier said.

Attempted parricide charges against Gunnawa-Almeda are now being prepared for filing by police investigators.
