Jamby to Loren: Have faith
Independent presidential candidate Senator Ma. Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal advised Monday Nationalista Party and Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) vice presidential bet Senator Loren Legarda to have more faith after the latter nearly figured in an air mishap on her trip to Sariaya, Quezon Sunday.
Asked for reaction on the incident, she described Legarda as someone “of little faith”.
“People with faith in God should not fear death,” Madrigal said.
She made the remark after Legarda described her feeling on the “frightening experience” on the chopper that eventually was able to make a successful emergency landing.
“I was really nervous while we’re still up there. The beads of the rosary that I’m holding nearly tore apart as I prayed hard for our safety,” earlier reports quoted Legarda as saying after the emergency landing
Legarda said the helicopter that she rode along with three other passengers and two pilots left Manila at 12 p.m. It was forced to make an emergency landing on an open field after it encountered thick dark clouds and strong rains 30 minutes later above Sariaya town at the foot of Mount Banahaw.
In a press statement, Nationalist People’s Coalition spokesperson Valenzuela City Rep. Rex Gatchalian said Legarda was so thankful that God has spared her and her fellow passengers from death during their flight.
“I left everything to God and I knew during that moment that He is the only one who could decide whether we should live or die. The fact that He spared us from sure harm has made me realize that perhaps He still wants me to serve the people and that He could be preparing me to accomplish greater and bigger things ahead.” Gatchalian quoted Legarda as saying.
